Racism at the Races?
The story titled Faces At The Races (The World Cup Crowd) tries to put before us the stereotypical racegoers as following.
Hooray Henry = Rich socialite with time to kill is White man
Corporate Client = A Keen deal maker and once again a successful man a.k.a A White Person.
Pony Girl = Ambitious rich offspring of white parents
Big Hat Woman = The socialite spouse of a rich financial whizkid is... White!
Ambitious Jockey = White again!
Knowledgeable Race Enthusiast = No prizes for guessing.. White again!
Startled Holidaymanker = Kinda clueless personality = Of indeterminate ethnicity.
Family Man = has to count his fils, rather shabby, certainly Asian :)
Labourer = Lives in a dorm (read bed space), is here to watch the more fortunate white folks... Asian! :)

Is life really tough or what!
Every morning, as i step up to the door leading to the office building I see this sick sign adorning the frontage of a hated electronics showroom - The sign says "Business Life is Tough!!" and several feets under that it sings praises of a spitworthy Toshiba laptop and goes on to assure me that life can be made easier when you own a Toshiba Tecra - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Great work! What is the need to shatter my mood first thing in the morning by stating that life is tough???
I hate you Toshiba!!

Throw that IP Phone away..NOW!
Your favorite No. 1 Khaleej Times has reported that
"The ban on the use of Internet telephony or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) will continue in the UAE, said Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansour, Minister for Government Sector Development."
Now this is great cause for all of us to rejoice because we all know that using the internet to place long distance phone calls will make you lazy and addicted to phone-chats. The affordability and the ease with which you can call your friends and family abroad will only go towards turning you into a slave of this modern evil - Telephone. Besides what are you gonna do with all the money you save? Spend it on fuel to run your car on these dangerous roads? HA! You are better off broke and at home... safe and sound…
Better Driving for all!
Today's news reportter has much to say on this topic in her column on 10 Nov 06. Lots of good sensible stuff, but what beats me is this stinger at the end of the article..
I wonder how much of safe and sensible driving practice it is when you carry a camera and start taking pictures while letting the car/truck/suv drive by itself?
"The police force is obviously outnumbered by the congested places where people try to cut through traffic and I think that they need a little bit of help.So I’ve resorted to carrying a camera and snapping anyone who darts through traffic just so they can get to their destination faster. At the rate I’m going I’ll have a folder full of offenders in less than three days."

A Better Example of Bad Writing
A ray of inspirational light of not inconsiderable mind-illuminating powers changed its orbit to come in contact with me this morning. And the said ray resumed its orbit leaving me with a question. Why must we work at writing lucid, clear, simple and well laid out paragraphs or sentences? Could not a discerning and aspiring writer promenade towards and into the realm of greater glory by demonstrating an undisputable ability to write complicated, unclear and hard-as-nails-to-fathom verse? What?
Soon, recursive emotions such as guilt, justification, pseudo-scientific exultation, superstition, and other various and spurious feelings were dancing their way into my vulnerable positioned arterial canals. Stereotypes and archetypes, classifications and categorizations leaped against each other screaming cold bloody murder. A desperate effort to formally normalize my psyche suffered a bitter defeat. The disturbances induced by mental dialogue left me an irrational fool suffering from delusions and spewing out sentences which violated the rational, enlightened ideals of perfect verse. I was hardly a shadow of my former self.
While the desire to excel at this Orwellian endeavor struggled on against the symbolic chains of traditional thoughts which shackled me to the slavish, Victorian ideals I was not unlike that great man - Alexander the Great - who straddled, strangled and conquered most of the rocky mass that orbits our yellow, life giving and hydrogen burning star which we not without some affection call the Sun.
Even as my stirring soul urged me on towards a quest that surely must have tormented spirits of all great men and women before my time, I dedicated myself to perform a notable deed albeit with some imaginary totality.
Here now lies the sampling of what yours truly has become an adept at in no time.
“On any given day, when any casual, neutral observer with a scientific bent of mind positions a magnifying glass over the modern mammal, the incorrigible homosapien, in an all too noble quest to identify the qualities which differentiate our thinking species from the unthinking ones, the process of discernment becomes imbued with the negative trajectory our race has pursued throughout its recorded and verifiable history.”

So what distinguishes us humans from animals ?
After much thought I have come to this conclusion: Humans can lie, animals can't. The ability to lie denotes our powers to perceive alternate realities. When we lie, we do so because we assume there is some benefit to be derived. We have visualized an altered situation which is to our liking because we chose to offer someone an altered version of facts.
It is this creative ability which has distinguished us from rest of the pack and helped us in becoming the monsters that we are today!
Amazing huh? So my friend(s), go ahead and lie, fabricate and make false statements! :)

Operation Mind Control
They say its a fascinating book (non fiction)... Some people even wonder if the author Walter Bowart was murdered by the Govt.
Some say that government documents exist that prove the CIA and other branches of the United States government, including the military, performed mind control and behavior modification experiments on human subjects, sometimes with, but many times without their permission.
An expensive book at $100
The question is, do these things really happen? - Do governments subvert and influence people's thinking?
Any conspiracy theorists among you?
